im a lefty, and I've adjusted my entire life to a right handed world. I'm tird of it. I've replaced everything in my house with the left handed equivalent. it's going great, and the rest of my family(all righties) are having to learn what we all had to deal with growing up.

the only one I'm the only lefty in a family of athletes, so I obviously had to learn to do everything with my right. Coaches would ask if there were any lefties in the group when demonstrating and all my teammates would be like: SHE IS! like i was some kind of inept freak who couldn't do it. Bitches. I don't know why people are so surprised when they find out I'm left-handed. I know it's not exactly common, but sheesh.
Making Movies I like to make movies, the one thing is is that there are no "lefty" video cameras!!! So the hand strap and all of the buttons are on the right!!! Super annoying because I have a hard time controlling my camera with my right hand!!!
They're Wrong. Everyone tells me that when I do everything left-handed that it's wrong. Don't believe it lefties, we're the ones who are right.

Just another inconvenience My phone charger plugs in right smack in the middle of the left side of my phone. A few times I would try to use it one-handed while it was plugged in, but I couldn't hold it in my left hand! How inconvenient. Thanks, right-handed person who designed the phone.
stupid scissors whenever i try to ude the right handed orange scossors, i get mad and throw them down. and everyone's like, "what the heck?" damn you righties!
left power this site is simply a result of what left handed people are so adept at doing: thinking of things before anyone else could. love ya lefties!

Lefty (kinda) I write and lead drums with the left hand but do everything else (sports, computers, eating) with the right hand. I wish it were the other way around.
Post title When I was a kid, all the other kids at school used to stare at me the whole time mumbling stuff like "why is she writing with her left hand?" or "look at her she's eating with her left hand".. yes I was thought to be possessed by my fellow classmates, it was fun... I was feared
nope "are you left handed?" "uhh... no? I'm just writing like this because it's fun to get lead all over my hand while simultaneously smearing everything i write."
not a rightie ill be writing something and someone will say "woah youre left handed!?" i just respond... "nah im just trying it out for the day... its going pretty well" :)
ACTs I took the ACTs and they have those weird desks that are only at the one side. Some idiot rightie took the only left-handed desk. I made a big deal about it in front of everyone, saying that that desk was for me only and they had to get off. I scared the crap out of him.
Lefties all around My sister and I are lefties, but my parents aren't. After she left for college, it got all awkward when I would announce that some random person is left handed on whatever show we were watching at the moment.
left couple I am left, so is hubby. We have 2 great boys, they are not:( BTW some of the worlds greatest leaders were left, including Naploleon, barak Obama, NElson Mandela, Bill Clinton and many more. Also Billy the kid and jack the ripper. See http://www.anythingleft-handed.co.uk/fam_history.html
Lefteh~ I always do stuff backwards, but I love it. Everyone in my family except my dad are all righties, and they think that I'm one of the weirdest things ever! But you know what I always bring up? "I'd like to see YOU try to draw this picture with your left hand!" I've been a leftie my whole life and I've always been proud of being different! The only things I use my right hand for are tennis and bowing my violin!
lefty i've been left handed since first grade. before that i wrote with both, whichever i felt like so i guess you could say im ambidextrous. but i prefer to be called a lefty. i do most things with my left but i also do a lot with my right. i use my left hand to write and eat but my right to kick, throw, use scissors. and all of my art teachers have always been impressed with my ability to use both hands to draw and paint.
to be honest its really helpful because i don't have to worry about awkward angles and i can also use two different colors to shade at once.
anyhow, lefties are by far more interesting than righties :P
Leftiesss i love being a lefty and it's kind of weird cause i have a 8 siblings and none of them is left handed not even my parents!!! in fact i'm a fashion designer despite of the jokes of everybody cause i was really clumsy and it was difficult for me to use the scissors since kindergarden. Lefties are awesome!!!!!!
leftie powah!! So, I am left handed!! Always been proud of that, so glad this site exists! I mean everyone i get to know, i always ask "are u left handed?" and if they are its like an automatic click between us, its awesome actually. In my college theres usually 2 or 3 seats that are for left handed, but in one class (calculus eww) there were none, so I made a revolt, and got my seat B-), haha yeaah!! just saying that we lefties are IT
love being left When I was in Kindergarten I would write backwords, and I did the pledge of alliegence with my right hand. So my teacher made me write with my right hand. Now Im able to be lefthanded... but what my teacher did was terrible.

It's a Chance I was doing research for a school paper when i found this site. I ama lefty myself and it makes me happy to see a site like this. Both my parents are right handed and through some research i found that if both parents are right handed their children only have an 8% chance of being left handed. Cheers to the 8% of lefties who came from nowhere and of which I belong to!!
I'm Awesome Being left-handed has never been a struggle for me. Since I was a kid, I was always the only left-handed kid in my class, so I was easily able to choose the left-handed seat. But it's funny, because when it comes to painting (not drawing) and cutting with scissors, I have to use my right hand. Funny!
Ambidextrous? I have several grandparents/great-grandparents who are lefties, but both parents are righties! I was taught to write with my right hand, but I naturally did most other things with my left hand. Now I can use both hands with ease, and I tend to have "Balanced brain" thinking. I don't know if this is because I was probably taught wrong, or because I am actually ambi, but I tend to prefer to use my left hand, 'cause it's much cooler. =]

The Curious Case of My Left Hand I, like those who enjoy this site, am left-handed. Obviously. But my particular case is probably one of the stranger. When I was born, I'm sure that I could have been right-handed, like any other girl. But my mom, who enjoys the fact that her dad is left-handed, always seemed to place everything I picked up in my left hand. Thus, I came to be titled "left-handed". You'd think that would mean everything I do must be left-handed. Apparently, not so. Though I write and eat left handed, I practically do everything else with my right hand. When I put on my backpack, the right strap goes on first.
Thought it would be much cooler to be called "ambidextrous", I actually prefer being a lefty. Yeah, lefties are awesome. Obviously.
Love for the Lefties Despite being banished to the end of the table and being teased for cutting towards myself instead of away as an adaption to right-handed scissors, I love being left-handed. Teaching myself how to crochet and suture left-handed was a thousand times more satisfying :)
Love being lefty. I'm so glad I found this site. It's like a secret society of leftys. No righty can understand the power of being left.

Reading I have always read magazines from the back to front. It just feels like it should be done that way. Left-handed trait, or just odd?
We're all serial killers at heart I cant imagine being right handed. That would be unbearable....I see people writing with their right hands and im thinking god how does he doe that? But seriously, I think that left-handed people are at a great advantage because of our thought process. I realized that all my guy friends are left-handed. It's nutty. I think that being a lefty is linked to the way I see things and think about things. Have you ever noticed that you're more creative? You can think up the CRAZIEST shit in like a nanosecond, leaving people rolling on the floor. We're witty. Very visually dynamic. SUPERIOR! ;) Ever stopped yourself and just thought, that was a very evil thought? Lol They say 45% of all serial killers are left handed. Seems like lefties use their brains for good or evil. I choose good! Disadvantages are...
1.Notebooks-I write with mine from back to front so i dont have to deal with the spiral marks on my skin.
2.Pencils: Ticonderogas are the best! For rightys. I get graphite all over my essays when I write in class and it looks like shit. I prefer pen.
3. Sitting at a dinner table. All I'm trying to do is enjoy my meal and cut my steak but I keep hitting my funny bone against my right-handed mother's elbow sitting next to me. ow.
Still, I wouldnt have my life any other way. I love being unique.
LOL! Lefties, are the only ones in their Right mind!!

Ambidextrious..Sota?! when I learned to write...I also wrote completely backwards-right to left. Also when I look at a map, it is completely reversed from the real world. I use my right hand almost as much as my left-except to draw or write. It's more like-I cross ovver right hand to do things to the left of me and left hand to do things to the right of me. I also remember using my left handed scissors, in my right hand but upside down! LOL! And I am dyslexic somewhat-but mostly if I am tired.
lefty with a great right I've always been very precise with my left but i feel as if my blind eye is in my right.

Classes.. What I hate about my college is that most of the rooms DON'T have lefty desks.. It makes me really angry. I even wrote a paper about it for my writing class and was given a nice reward. Aside from an A on the paper, each room on campus was enchanted with the presence of at least three lefty desks!

lefty life when i was little my first sucessfull drawing wasthat of a locomotive, i drew this upsideown with my left hand, i have always got b's d's p's and q's the worng way round and sometimes the capital N, my handwrighting has aways been neeter when wrighting right to left backwards then it ever was left to right forwards. i used to hate when righties bump in to me while wrighting so i sit by a left handed person, ofcorse we were the frist other leftie we ever saw so we both insisted on sitting one side of the table, thats when we knew.
'Lefthandedness' A lot of the information you have on here made me think 'Wow! Thats me!'. I always got my 'b's and 'd's muddled up as a child, I could never get them right.
Proud lefty I love being left handed for the most part. I am a in culinary school with a bunch of right handed chefs and it is hard when I am shown how to pipe or cut something and then have to try to do it backwards. It can be difficult being a lefty in a right handed world, but I love it. By now I am mostly ambidextrous which is awesome!

One of the things I find most difficult as a left hander is cutting vegetables, Second to that is the smudged hand when writing, and bashing elbows with right-handers. And when I was younger I found it really hard to write next the margin on paper, instead I would start the line about a centimetre away from the margin. But other than that I really enjoy being left handed. I do some things right handed however like using scissors, playing the guitar and kicking with my right leg. I've had people who i've known for years suddenly realise i'm left handed too.

love being leftie I absolutely LOVE being left-handed. I'm always excited to find other lefties too. I notice right away if I see someone writing with their left hand -- it must be a leftie thing.
Backword Notebook Writing in notebooks can be annoying for leftys. Because the entire time your writing your hand is resting on the metal spiral binding the book. Now, all I do is write in notebooks from back to front. And this doesn't happen. Plus. Then. The notebook opens left to right. =]

COMPUTERS AND LEFTYS Being Left handed is great! I can take notes with my left hand and use my mouse with my right. I don't know how anyone who is right handed does it! I guess we're more efficient!
I had an educational children's toy with a stylus and digital touch screen. There was a string that attached the stylus and the device (an honest effort to keep from losing the small stick). However, it was attached to the right side of the toy. This made it ridiculously hard for a lefty like me to use. I may or not have been responsible enough to cut the string without losing the stylus, but it's a bit late for that now. :)

Happy to be a lefty I love being a lefty. it means so much to me. I am proud to be so unique because in my family i am the only one. I play guitar which makes my guitar unuseable by other people in my school because they cant use it which is amazing. I also love to pretend im right handed then arm wrestle someone and lose and say lets do it with our left arms and beat the pants off of them!
Left in all it's obscurity Let's see...how has being left-handed affected my life? I can't really say, honestly. It's just a natural part. Given, I do have very messy handwriting and smudges used to be my worst enemy, but I learned that a majority of geniuses suffer from mess and clutter. I mean go to the doctor's office and look at their handwriting! Horrible, I would say, and that's with their right hands. I know this is a little off topic, since we are talking about lefthands, but I was told of a correlation, and I wonder if anyone else has heard about it? We all have a crown in the back of our heads, which, to a certain degree, can be used to predict what side of the brain is dominant. I will say that it sounds like the equivalent of cosmology, but I find it interesting since I actually have dual crowns(one on each side) and enjoy a lot of well-balanced traits from each side of the brain.
Gay lefties I was at a dinner party once. There were 10 gays, myself included. All of us were lefties!

hairdresser The only thing I've really had a problem with being left-handed is learning how to cut hair. All my instructors tried telling me to watch them in the mirror, but for some reason that never worked for me. Instead I had to watch what they were doing and flip it around in my own head. Oddly enough I ended up working somewhere with three left handed woman...wonder if there's any correlation of left-handed women and cosmetologists?

Left and PROUD I have been left-handed ever since I learned to write, and I have found that I do a lot of lefty things! I eat left handed, I use scissors left handed (although I am capable of using right), I lay on my left side a lot when I sleep, I throw and catch left handed...the list goes on. I have just found that most things I do, it is more comfortable to use my left hand. Sometimes I can use my right, and it won't make a big difference.
I like being left handed because not a lot of people are, especially girls for some reason, so it makes me unique. I also really love to paint and draw so I'm a left handed artist! That's pretty cool. People are usually surprised when I tell them I'm left handed, maybe they just don't know very many lefties. The only problem I ever have is the same as all the others: the smudging of pencil when I write. I usually just put another piece of paper over what I've already written and that fixes the issue. Other than that...I love being left handed!
Yeah I'm a dork.
Not as problematic I am left-handed and except for the smearing when I am writing I do not have any problems with it.
I like to be a lefty, but I don't feel very special because of it. Maybe this is because I know 8 people that are left-handed (I'm the only one in my family though). For all the people who think they are discriminated or misunderstood: please do not make that much of a deal out of it. It's not really hard.

It seems I alway put it to the edge to measure and am looking at the 12inch mark and not the 1 inch. There should be ones where the numbers read right to left, I think. One of many small things -- my laundry soap, ALL concentrate -- is also for righties!

Misunderstood I'm the only lefty in my family, and they don't understand when I have problems. I don't have dyslexia and am a very good reader and writer, aside from my bad handwriting. When I cut in jagged lines, they call me clumsy. When I ask them for lefty scissors they look at me like I've gone round the bend. They think my hand looks silly after I write with pencil and my words smear and make the side of my hand gray. They think I'm just so silly when I try to go through a revolving door the opposite way. They think being left handed doesn't change anything, that it's all the same. They don't listen to me when I tell them that it's hard. They call me a drama queen. They roll their eyes and laugh. If they had to live in a lefty world, they would see. Why won't they see?

contradictory? I'm left handed, and I don't have a problem with reading and grammar. Actually, quite the opposite. I've always found that both of those come naturally. Lefties ARE discriminated against, not in usual ways like teasing, but so many products are both made for and marketed towards righties. It should be easier to find things for lefties like us!

Hello Teaching! To Camila (below): Please don't give up on being a teacher! I'm a left-handed Grade 1 teacher. I use both chalkboards and whiteboeards. All you have to do is rearrange the desks to make it work. Get your students to help. Be proud of who you are. School, Work, Life I remember my kinder teacher asking my mom if she wanted the teacher to make me right handed, my mom told her "No, she's supposed to be left handed!" Way to go mom! I have had trouble adjusting to various things in life and have become nearly ambidextrous out of necessity. I'm so glad our world is coming out of the dark ages re all of us lefties!
Grade school.... I hated grade school! I was punished many times for messy hand writing and especially smudges! I was so to get into high school because I could type almost all of my homework. Now I type any official documents that I can.
Leftism Left is best, that's why they have to try and handicap with right handed utensils and tools. You all know it people ;-)

Ooopsy (Ha I tried to type and my keyboard hates me) Anyway...I was going to say that being left handed for me is about using everything backwards, sideways and effectively...the wrong way. I don't have anything that's expressly made for left-handedness. I just wanted to say the only thing I hate the most about the right-handed world is that video games are always oriented to right-handedness. You have to use WASD for movement and the mouse for clicking actions. This equates to looking at my computer screen from the far left as my right hand is on WASD and my left on the mouse. Its annoying.

Bi-Handedness I actually don't know fully whether I'm truly right or left handed. I grew up in a household where I was the only person that wrote with my right hand. I don't know if it was because that's where people kept putting the pencil, or what. Either way, I do things pretty equally with my left hand, too. So much that I have to wear my watch on my right hand - because it's more comfortable. I write neater with my right hand, but I write better than both of my (lefty) brothers with my left hand, and I frequently switch it up. I even do this thing where I take notes with my right hand and highlight with my left or visa versa - just because it's more efficient...and I can. I can paint my nails perfectly with my left hand, and I put the right side of my face's makeup on with my left hand. I do all of this extremely comfortably.
I even eat with my left hand when it is more efficient (like if I'm multitasking and the eating part just gets taken over by my left hand, or if I am scrunched up at a wall on my right side)...which happens pretty equally.
But I enjoy it. I enjoy having people look at me weird when they notice I'm writing with my left hand and they say "uh...you're not left handed" i'm like "uh...no. I'm not. I'm ambidextrous"
Also, my left foot is dominant. When I used to skateboard I was a lefty. When I roller skate, I'm a lefty. Anything that needs more strength goes to my left food. I also have trouble figuring out which way I want to stand when I play baseball or any kind of similar sport.
I <3 it.
Backwards to most of the world Growing up, wrong handed?I Refused to change to suit them, probably the beginning of my rebellious nature.

WHOO So more men are left handers than women... awesome, that makes me even more unique :D
I love being left handed for many reasons, because the fact that things are more difficult for us, allows us to learn to use our right hands for things, and therefore, know how to use both better... being just one ^^

Found this out in college in Model Making course. Teacher said I was full of BS! But got him to be leanient in my grading. Anyone else have this problem?
Realizations. I always thought everyone had the same problems (spiral notebooks, writing essays and getting marked for life, not being able to use markers, and putting my books into someone else's desk..) then I realized that only us chosen ones have these difficulties... LEFTIES UNITE.

Forced I was born completely ambidextrous but my Catholic kindergarten teacher would slap my wrist with a ruler every time i would use my left hand, and thus I write and do anything precise with my right hand and anything strength related with my left hand (such as batting). I constantly wish I had had a different teacher as my body wants to be ambidextrous.

Can Openers Yes, Can openers and most of the world was designed with THEM (righties) in mind. What ever happened to our civil rights and reperations?!

Forced What are the stats for thoseof us who have been forced to be left handed? We face the same obstacles and sometimes even more so,because we don't fit in either the left or right handed world. Are we just as open-minded and creative because we have learned to use the right side of our brain as well?

Stupid People People look at me writing with my left hand (or doing something) and then saying oh! are you left handed? when it is obvious cause I'm using my left hand

Writing utensils Does it bother anyone else that when you're holding a pen or pencil with writing printed on it, the words are always upside down? They're printed so they could be read from the average right hand! :/

I love being Left Handed At the drop of a hat I will make sure that everyone knows that I'm left handed and I know that we're better. I love being creative and more "out there" than the right handers. I love arguing about how being left handed is better. It is way easier because left handers always get facts about being left handed. Right handers don't care.
elbow room Do you ever notice at a restaurant with friends that no one wants to sit next to you because they don't want to bump elbows the whole meal? How do they think we feel? We have to bump elbows every meal, no matter who we sit next to!
